“Look at that guy he
has a worm hanging on his shirt. Yes that’s indeed a worm!!!” said she with
all the concern towards a perfect stranger.”Ye
is it? Why bother come on dear lets mind our own business”. With all the
commitment and with utmost perseverance she told me. ”That’s not right it seems to be a dangerous one, we need to tell that
guy about it, what if we had one on ourselves and it bit us and no one bothered
to even hint us about it”.
“Then why don’t you
march ahead of me and tell him about it” said me with a sense of anger. She
went quite and sadly adhered to my protest. For the rest of the moment she
walked parallel to me not uttering a word or even making a protest to my
reaction over the concern she showed. That silence surely made me feel that I overacted.
I kept quiet for sometime but at the back of my mind kept
thinking if she was indeed right. Maybe I acted being insensitive. Right,
that’s what happened. As we kept walking I was in search of this guy with that spotted
worm on his shirt. After much of an eye search finally I found that guy and
with the urge of checking on his shirt I pushed myself a little away from the
pathway. Yes this time I spotted him and to my great relief it was not a worm
but a piece of string hanging on the back of his shirt. Was I reassuring myself
that I was not that insensitive as she thought me to be?
At last I was relieved that indeed I was not that insensitive
I said “hai look dear get relived it’s
not a worm as you thought it to be, it’s just as string”. All quite till
this moment and unhappy of my reaction all she said was “Good then...”.
Concerned she surely was I understand that there are a
few people in this world who just make a difference with that sense and urge of
helping people around them no matter who and what they are.
